The Mathmatical Bridge (2), Queen's College, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England
×
The Mathematical Bridge, Queens' College, Cambridge.
The story that the bridge was first constructed without fastenings is a myth and originally iron pins or screws would have been used although the current structure uses nuts and bolts. Wood doesn't last forever and this is the third replacement; each subsequent bridge being built to the original design.
The building at the back is the President's Lodge built in about 1460 and is the oldest building on the river in Cambridge.
