This is the lower end of the jetty with the Brightlingsea Ferry moored at the end. This ferry is for pedestrians only, including wheelchair users, and runs between Brightlingsea and East Mersey on Mersey Island from April to September inclusive.

The Anchor Hotel was built in 1901 with an unusual mixture of Jacobean and Bavarian styles but has since been converted to residential use. It is a grade II listed building designed by George Henry Page of Colchester and erected on the site of earlier Anchor public houses dating back to the 1630s.
