Golden Samphire (Inula crithmoides) on the Tollesbury Marshes.
This plant is found all over the higher parts of the salt marsh - that is to say those parts that are only infrequently covered at high tide.
One of the muddy tidal creeks can be seen in the background.

There are numerous navigable creeks and channels in this area of marsh some of which provide sheltered moorings for small craft.

This plant is found all over the marshes but its occurence tends to be either sporadic or in drifts which create large purple patches at the right time of year.

The lightship Trinity on Tollesbury Marshes.
Built in 1954 for Trinity House this vessel could never move under it's own power and was intended only to be towed to a location and moored. The 'engine room' was there to provide power for the light.
It is now used as a residential holiday base for young people. It is, otherwise, not normally open to the public but they have an annual open day in August.
