The Ballroom is relatively modern nomenclature for this room and I understand that during the last war Hampton Court Castle was used as a military hospital with the Ballroom being used as one of the wards for injured military personnel.

The Ballroom formed one side of the original quadrangle so will date back to the 15th century but the interior, and possibly some of the exterior, is significantly altered.

The stone Grand Main Staircase has been given a medieval heraldic atmosphere.
