This section is near the north west corner of the city walls and shows a series of three locks dropping the canal to a much lower level.
You can see how high this canal is compared to the country beyond.

Two canal narrowboats are negotiating the locks shown in the picture above. Two of these boats can just squeeze into a lock together.
The gates at the far end of the lock reach as high as the footbridge. The top of the gates at the near end of the lock can be seen in the foreground.

This view of the canal is between the buildings which form the Mill Hotel which is where we stayed for the duration of our visit to Chester.
It is only a short walk from here into the city centre.
