Can you tell me exactly where this particular photo (with the gate and hills in the background) is in Alfriston I would love to visit it. Many thanks , Martin

This is on the path from Alfriston to the top of Firle Beacon. In the photograph you will see that the path goes down into a dip. In the dip and to the left is a small free car park called the Bo Peep Car Park (yes really). If you look on an ordnance map of 1:25000 you will see that the access road for that car park comes from the A27.
So you have a choice. Drive to the car park and you'll find the position for that view is uphill a little to the right or you can walk from Alfriston. If you start from the Star Inn and go along Star Lane by the side of the inn, go straight across the cross roads into Kings Ride and the footpath starts where the road ends.
Follow the footpath and the South Downs Way signs and you will eventually arrive at the viewpoint just past the Bo Peep Car Park.
This map shows the route with the arrow marking the start of the path.
