Thank you for your lovely photos of the castle, church, and village of Hedingham! They spark fond memories of a recent trip with my mother and sister. I was told by a woman, who identified herself as a villager, that the wooden floors and ceiling had been damaged and were restored. As I recall, she felt the work had been done well, and she finds it easier to take guests there now because it's much safer. I pictured folks with canes vaulting over gaps in the flooring.

It was a great pleasure (and somewhat of an adventure for my mother) to climb the winding stone staircase, with its rope railing, to the different floors where there is information about the history and use of each level. The view of the Norman Arch from above is spectacular and moving.

We were not allowed to go out on the roof, but your photos show glimpses of the surrounding, peaceful, and uncluttered landscape.

It is a most worthwhile trip, and I hope to return.
