Hergest Croft, Kington, Herefordshire, England

Hergest Croft has been gardened continuously by three generations of the same family for over 100 years. The gardens extend for over 70 acres and there are over 90 "Champion" Trees and six distinct areas: Hergest Croft, the Azalea Garden, the Maple Grove, the Kitchen Garden, the Park and Park Wood.
As you can see we were there at Rhododendron/Azalea time.

Although there is a house, as shown here, it is not open to the public but the large greenhouse is open.
There is, however, a small cafe within the house which is available to the public. There is also a kitchen garden.

There are numerous vistas to be had in the gardens, like this one, which are particularly colourful during the Rhododendron season.

This rather pleasant vista is from the terrace just outside the tea room.
These gardens are on the Offa's Dyke Path so walkers on that path will pass right by these gardens. Adding a bit more walking by visiting these gardens would be very worth while.

If you continue past Hergest Croft Gardens to the top of the road and through the gate onto open ground you will be on Hergest Ridge. This picture is on Offa's Dyke Path, well on the way to the top of Hergest Ridge, and what wonderful views!
The signpost fingers both read "Offa's Dyke Path'.
