Trafalgar Square to Charing Cross, London

Walking just a few yards down Craven Passage next to the Sherlock Holmes pub will provide this view, on the right-hand side, of part of the old Turkish Baths which Holmes and Watson were supposed to have visited. This is all that is left of the old baths with its distinctly Moorish design.
Follow Craven Passage through to Craven Street.

Craven Street has some delightful Georgian terraced houses and there are a number of points of interest in the street.

Craven Passage crosses Craven Street and continues under Charing Cross Station but just before it goes under the station is this Victorian pub - the Ship and Shovell. Its novel feature is that it is in two halves - one each side of Craven Passage. There is, apparently, a cellar which connects the two halves under Craven Passage.
Carry on down the steps to the archway below Charing Cross Station.

This archway goes under Charing Cross Station to the far side and emerges into Villiers Street. There are various small shops along the length of the arch.
