Stamford, Lincolnshire.
The gardens and parkland at Burghley were designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown in the eighteenth century and this view, from the south-west, shows the lake that he included.

Stamford, Lincolnshire.
The deer at Burghley are fallow deer which are not very large - the top of their back comes up to our waist level. They are part of a herd of around 400 which was established more than 450 years ago.
Burghley Park is open to the public without charge except for event days, I believe, every day of the year.
