The County of Cheshire.

The Cheshire Plain is like a vast park where the River Dee winds gently through the farmland and cattle move lazily over grassy slopes thick with buttercups. There are woods and meres, stately homes, and the 'Black and White' timber framed buildings for which Cheshire is renowned.
The county town, the city of Chester on the River Dee, was made an important stronghold by the Romans. This ancient walled city is famous for it's Rows - medieval shops built on two levels one above the other. It also has a 14th century red sandstone cathedral with some astonishing carved oak choir stalls.
The Reverend Charles Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll, was born in Daresbury in 1832.
