Looking into the small basin at the inner end of the lock on the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. This is the last lock on the canal but there are 12 other locks between here and Chelmsford.

This view was from the canal towpath which extends 14 miles, together with the canal of course, to Chelmsford passing through the outskirts of Maldon on the way. This canal first opened in 1797.
