The apparent conglomeration of white buildings opposite was in fact the Old Sun Inn. Dating from the 14th century the Old Sun Inn, sadly, no longer exists as such having been divided into a number of seperate buildings. There is, however, still some fine pargetting to be seen.

It stands where Museum Street and Market Hill both meet Church Street.

The Cross Keys Hotel is at the junction of High Street and King Street. Dating from the 15th century it was originally a house and shop.

On the corner of the ground floor are two of the original shop windows.

At the start of The Rows on the corner of King Street and Cross Street stands this large 15th century Hall House which has since been divided into three separate buildings.

The Rows were the medieval town's original shopping centre. The individual shops probaly started as market stalls and developed into something more substantial later.
