Wood Anemone or Windflower (Anemone nemorosa) in a wood near Tiptree in the middle of April.
The only problem with scenes like this is that they are short lived. These flowers appear near the end of March and reach their maximum density after about two weeks.

Probably by the end of April their numbers will be considerably diminished although there will still be some in flower into May.

We also saw a Roe Deer. It also saw us so we were not able to watch it for long as it trotted off across the fields and disappeared.
