The Kitchen, Castell Coch, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, Great Britain.
Castel Coch, Cardiff.

The Kitchen as you might expect is functional rather than luxurious with a rather large black Range Cooker on the right.

When the castle was being renovated for Lord Bute his architect, Willaim Burges, identified the old kitchen from the location of old fireplaces in the thick walls of the surviving Kitchen Tower, as well as the position of what he guessed to be serving hatches. He then rebuilt it with some up-to-date facilities.

The Banqueting Hall, Castle Coch, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, Great Britain.
Castell Coch, Cardiff.

The Banqueting Hall is not as decorated as some of Burges' rooms and might be considered austere.

The Hall features stencilled ceilings and murals which resemble medieval manuscripts and the furniture was made in Lord Bute's workshops at Cardiff. The tapered chimney of the room, modelled on 15th-century French equivalents, contains a statue carved by Thomas Nicholls which depicts Lucius of Britain, who, according to legend, was the founder of the diocese of Llandaff in nearby Cardiff.

Lady Bute's Bedroom, Castell Coch, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, Great Britain.
Castell Coch, Cardiff.

Lady Bute's Bedroom comprises the upper two floors of the Keep with a ceiling that rises into the tower's conical roof.

The room was completed after Burges's death and, although he had created an outline model for the room's structure, which survives, he did not undertake detailed plans for its decoration. The final interior decoration was the work of Horatio Lonsdale, Burges's chief artist with considerable involvement from Bute and his wife.

Lord Bute's Bedroom, Castell Coch, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, Great Britain.
Castell Coch, Cardiff.

Lord Butes Bedroom, compared with other rooms within the castle, is relatively small and simple with an ornate fireplace at the far end and would have been impractical for regular use as it lacked wardrobes and other storage.
