The Cuckmere River from High and Over, Sussex, England, Great Britain
Alfriston, Sussex.

About two miles south of Alfriston, on the Seaford road, is a hill called High and Over. On the brow of the hill is a large lay by on the right hand side of the road and on the left the entrance to a small car park. At the back of the car park is a path heading away from the road which leads to some of the viewpoints seen on this page.

Here we are looking north along the Cuckmere Valley towards Alfriston and showing Windover Hill.

Cuckmere Haven in the distance, Sussex, England, Great Britain
Alfriston, Sussex.

Looking due south from High and Over along the Cuckmere valley we can see the sea sparkling at Cuckmere haven. This is where the Cuckmere River runs across the beach into the sea close by the Seven Sisters white chalk cliffs.

The Cuckmere River below Exceat, Sussex, England, Great Britain
Alfriston, Sussex.

The Cuckmere River below Exceat with sheep grazing on the far bank and in the fields beyond. The river here is much wider than at Alfriston as it meanders down towards the shore at Cuckmere Haven a half mile away.
