The Pier, Eastbourne, Sussex

The pier has a good number of structures along its deck as can be seen here. The rather obvious silver-grey dome is on top of the Canera Obscura which is supposed to be open throughout the summer season but that , apparently, can't be relied upon. We were there on a September afternoon when it is advertised as being open but it was closed.

The walkway through the pier entrance is in the centre with small sops either side (including a fish and chip shop if I remember correctly) but once on to the pier proper the walkway divides and goes along either side of the pier with small shops along the centre. This shows the western side.

We noticed this little structure on the pier and assumed that it's some sort of shelter. I suppose it could be useful when an unexpected heavy shower appears although it is a nice little Victorian structure in its own right especially with the view through the glass divider.

This is, as it says on the sign, the Victorian Tea Rooms. We didn't have time to go in but it did look very nice. You can see here the divided walkway along each side of the pier.

You want seats? Eastbourne Pier does seats - and in typically grand style. It would take quite a number of people to fill that lot.
This is near the outer end of the pier with Marine Parade and the beach in the distance. We were here late evening which would account for the empty seats especially as, by then, it was getting a bit chilly.
