The wall on the right is part of the old wall which surrounded the cathedral precincts.

This is one of two surviving fortified Medieval city gates. However all is not what it seems. The obvious doorway on the right leads to some stairs but what is on the upper storey may not be what you expect (See the interior view) .

There are tours at set times to enable visitors to see around some of the college. Just look at the wonderful ceiling inside the first arch.
Founded in 1382 it is believed to be the oldest continuously running school in England.
The house in which Jane Austen died is nearby.
